Visits :

LANCHARRE is on the path of the Roman Churches in Southern Burgundy.
On foot, by bike or car, there are numerous monuments to see.
At CORMATIN, the château boasts magnificent Louis XII decor and its park is a fine example of French landscaping.
The mediaeval site of BRANCION is nearby (only a 2 hr. round trip on foot). CLUNY and its abbey are accessible by bike path (voie verte) or by car. Other châteaux in the surrounding countryside will transport you to other ages in French history : Berzé le Chatel, Pierre Clos, La Ferté, Dré, Palinges…

Pre-histotry sites includes the caves at AZE, Merovingian graves at BLANOT and the Museum of Pre-history at SOLUTRE.

Other museums within easy reach and wich we recommend are the Museum of photography at Chalon sur Saône, Greuze Museum at Tournus, Lapidary Museum in Cluny, Eco Museum of Pierre de Bresse...

In the Côte d’Or region :

The ”HOSPICES de BEAUNE“, with its dramatically patterned, tiled roof depicts an early hospital, its strucures and organization, its VAN DER WEYDEN altearpiece of Last Judgement. These have become the symbols of Burgundy.

Near Hospices is the CLOS VOUGEOT, an ancient walled vineyard still creating fine wines of the highest quality and showing the history of viticulture in this aera.

DIJON : the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy. Visit the town, its Cathredals, the Museum of Dukes And the Museum of Burgundian life , follow the directed walk through the old town.

In the Rhone region

LYON : historic place, the silk capital and the home of puppets
