DESCRIPTION OF THE GILDED WOOD GITE

Lancharre :

Les “dames de Lancharre“ from the XII° to the XVIII° Centuries wealthy, aristocratic widows lived out their lives in lancharre in the equivalent of today’s old folk’s home but a very privileged one.
They lived there, they prayed and received visits from their families with the support of a servant.
In the XII° Century chapel of this wealthy widows’ home, only the choir remains. Several fallen headstones bear witness to their existence and their semi-secluded way of life.
